 Using the GISS data,(from surface stations), and the Rutgers snow lab data (from satellite data), one can actually see how where it's colder there is more snow, and where it's warmer (than normal), there is less snow.

Like many regions, the amount of snow depends on temperature, more than the amount of precipitation.  This is already known to Meteorologists, but trying to convince somebody who believes otherwise is futile.

The problem with those graphs, which are from a GHCN station, is the data is not correct.

The snow ratio is important to understand

 On new years eve 2021, the exact phrase "The snow ratio is important" does not appear in a Google search.

Nor does it show up on Bing or duckduckgo 

The snow ratio is important to understand why there is more, or less snow, from the same amount of precipitation.

You may have heard that you can melt 10 inches of snow to an inch of water. But is that really true?

While this rule of thumb is valid at times, there are factors in the atmosphere which can result in higher or lower snow amounts from that same inch of water. Meteorologists call this the snow ratio, and it plays an important role in snow forecasts for a given storm, in addition to determining a weather system's future path.

In general, lower snow ratios result in wet, heavy snow accumulations commonly found in early and late-season storms. That type of snow is difficult to shovel, and sometimes can down trees and power lines. Conversely, higher snow ratios lead to light and fluffy accumulations, often prone to blowing around in the wind.

The snow ratio is important, and is not found on Wikipedia

In simple terms, the colder it is when snow forms, the more volume there is.  So not only is there more snow when it's cold, the colder it is, the more snow there can be.

 In most areas of the United States, the amount of snow is directly connected to the temperature. 

 Especially the daily high (Tmax), but the nighttime low (Tmin) can also be a factor.

The essential factor is the snow ratio.  

Understanding what causes heavy snow is also important.

This entry will explain and show with actual data why there was record snow and cold in Texas.  (it was not because of record precipitation)

 Like clockwork, the experts assigned blame to the record cold and snow in Texas, claiming that somehow it was because of warming, that it was so much colder.  And of course, there was so much snow because the warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, so it was more precipitation that caused so much snow.

Which is just not true.

While it is futile to expect evidence to matter, I still do this, because I enjoy it.

Google search engine experiment results

 This blog post right here was a test of Google and search.  

If you put the exact phrase  "it snows more because it's warmer" into Google, you will not find this blog, or the post.  Bing search, it is the first hit.

It's ironic because blogger.com is run by Google.  

Duckduckgo also shows this blog, as well as the forum I first used the phrase in.  (yes, I made up the completely false phrase, 

"It snows more because it's warmer"

It would be funny, except it's actually Google censoring the search engine

Oh no, not the "it snows more when it's warmer" argument! ("it snows more because it's warmer")

 Once again, the dreaded "it snows more when it's warmer" has hit the internet, again, like a bad nightmare you forgot about.  It can also be stated as "it snows more because it's warmer", which is even worse. 

Some background.  When did this insipid phrase even start?  How could it even be a thing?

In 2010, there is no mention of such a phrase on Google, which makes sense of course, because who would ever claim such a thing?  One can be sure it does no appear anywhere in print as well.

So where and when is the first mention of such a ludicrous idea? Does it exist in 2013?  No, it does not.

I could go on and on, but to cut to the chase, it appeared when I made it up.

 I continue to write about this, because it is amusing.  When I tell somebody that people actually claim, that it snows more because it is warmer, they think I am being sarcastic, humorous or a contrarian. Or that I am dumber than a box of rocks.

It actually takes some intelligence to figure out the real reason for the claim.  

It snows more when it's cold.  Full disclosure, except for arctic regions fed by ocean moisture, or near the Great lakes region where lake effect snow is a cause.
