It snows more because it's warmer "It snows more because it's warmer"

Just another Google search engine experiment.

( No, it is not true that it snows more when it is warmer. This is a test of Google search function)

"it snows more because it's warmer"

It snows more because it's warmer

It snows more because it is warmer

"It snows more because it is warmer"

The following phrases are also just for the search engines

"basic global warming theory"  "theory of global warming"

Oh no, not the "it snows more when it's warmer" argument! ("it snows more because it's warmer")

Once again, the dreaded "it snows more when it's warmer" has hit the internet, again, like a bad nightmare you forgot about.  It can also be stated as "it snows more because it's warmer", which is even worse.

Some background.  When did this insipid phrase even start?  How could it even be a thing?

In 2010, there is no mention of such a phrase on Google, which makes sense of course, because who would ever claim such a thing?  One can be sure it does no appear anywhere in print as well.

So where and when is the first mention of such a ludicrous idea? Does it exist in 2013?  No, it does not.

I could go on and on, but to cut to the chase, it appeared when I made it up.

IT SNOWS MORE WHEN IT IS COLD

IT SNOWS LESS WHEN IT IS WARM

It snows more when it is cold It snows more when it's cold

I continue to write about this, because it is amusing.  When I tell somebody that people actually claim, that it snows more because it is warmer, they think I am being sarcastic, humorous or a contrarian. Or that I am dumber than a box of rocks.

It actually takes some intelligence to figure out the real reason for the claim.

It snows more when it's cold.  Full disclosure, except for arctic regions fed by ocean moisture, or near the Great lakes region where lake effect snow is a cause.

What is the best way of showing this? ISMWIC

It shows up in daily data, monthly, seasonal, and even annual data.

Here's an example. URBANA Illinois station USC00118740   map coordinates 40.0839  -88.2403

Declining temps at this location always mean more snow

This relationship shows up monthly, even annually

For good measure, 100 years of data

It snows more when it is cold

It started snowing

An hour ago it was rain.  As the temperature drops, the snow (which is far above) no longer melts as it reaches warmer air.  And it snows.  Because it is colder.

It does not snow more because it is warmer.
